In the process of manufacturing nonwoven material, cellulose is passed over drying drums which in turn runs over large rolls. The cellulose is dehydrated by the drying drums and systematically converted to a web of fabric.
The residual moisture causes the material to stick to the roll. Sticking combined with high production speeds means that the rolls wear quickly. The warm, humid environment promotes corrosion.
